Starting an affiliate marketing business may be the easiest way to start a business online.

With internet affiliate marketing you don't have to have or create your own products, you don't need to deal with shipping products, customer service, credit card processing, refund requests, or any other headaches or problems associated with selling your own goods or services.

All you really need to do with an affiliate marketing business is select a quality affiliate program, drive traffic to that program, and collect your profits.

Of course, it's not that easy. But it is that simple.

Just remember, affiliate marketing is a business and you need to treat it that way.

You need to learn affiliate marketing the same way you'd learn any other business that you started.

At least, you do if you want to truly be successful with your affiliate marketing business.

Affiliate marketing can be extremely rewarding and profitable if you do it right.

If you've been researching affiliate marketing for any length of time, you've probably seen a lot of techniques or tactics such as using Google Adwords to drive traffic to affiliate programs.

Or writing lots of articles and submitting them to directories with affiliate links in your author resource box.

Personally, I don't recommend you try and run this type of affiliate marketing business. The main reason being, you don't have a business!

You're just a traffic broker for the company that has the products. Read more

I talked about the importance about testing and tracking in my previous article Profiting from Google Adwords and PPC Traffic By Split Testing.

If you don't track and split test you ppc advertising campaigns, you're leaving a lot of money on the table.

Or you may end up losing a lot of money with a ppc campaign when you could've made it profitable just by tweaking your ad headline.

You'll never know unless you split test and track.

You may have chosen an online business for a variety of reasons from working from home to following a passion but the bottom line is that a business stays in business only if it makes money.

We all want to turn a profit.

So that means every dollar you spend on advertising, whether it's ppc advertising or offline advertising in a magazine, you need to maximize the ROI you get from that dollar.

In order to do that you need to test and track. And yet so few people do it.

The following isn't specific to PPC marketing but can be used with all your internet marketing strategies.

If you don't test and track, you might as well take your advertising dollars and go to Vegas and play craps.

The truth is, most advertising is wasted whether it's pay per click advertising, banner advertising or newspaper classified ads.

You could probably double your profits just by eliminating wasteful and unprofitable advertising.

Just think if, on top of eliminating wasteful ad spending, you maximized the spending that is profitable.

Your profits would skyrocket.

The idea being that you want to improve your bottom line profits being made by your website or marketing funnel out of each visitor. Read more

Finding a niche seems to be one of the biggest obstacles I've seen with my coaching clients when it comes to building an online business.

They don't know where to start or how to find a niche.

It's really not that difficult but many people have a mental block the same with they do when it comes to writing.

If you're struggling to come up with niche ideas, sitting in front of Google or Wordtracker and not being able to come up with any keywords as a starting point, then get away from the computer.

You're probably much better off taking your niche research offline. Think about it. Read more

The short answer is yes, marketing your business with Google Adwords really does work.

I guess you could say there's a really big but there so Sir Mix A Lot would be happy.

Most, but not all, Adwords ebooks focus on two things; making money on Adwords by selling products as an affiliate or by selling the book you just bought that's supposed to tell you how to make money using Adwords!

As for the second one, don't waste your time.

There's way too much competition jacking up the bid prices and you're all selling the same product. Remember when Affiliate Project X launched? Read more

I'm split testing two ads in Google Adwords that go to a squeeze page to build my list (in a market in which I sell my own products).

The only thing different is the ppc ads themselves (even the headlines are the same - lines 2 and 3 are slightly different).

The click thru's come from the same keywords and go to the exact same landing page.

Ad A gets a CTR on Google Adwords of 2.77%

Ad B gets a CTR on Google Adwords of 1.62%

Obviously A is a clear winner. But here's the thing.

The conversion rate on the squeeze page (which is the same for both) is much higher for ad B. Read more

These visitors are actively searching for what you have to offer. And, of course, there's the little matter of the traffic being free.
So how do you get your site to rank well enough to generate this kind of traffic?

For starters, forget all the crap software that doesn't do anything but create junk spam pages that the search engines eventually discover and ban from their search engine results.

If you want great search engine rankings that last, there are some solid search engine optimization tactics you can use that the search engines actually love.
Let's take a look at some of these SEO tactics you need to use and then I'll show you some results I've gotten with these search engine optimization techniques. Read more

Article marketing, while getting saturated because of concepts like bum marketing, is still a very viable way to help your internet marketing efforts.

But it's important to understand that direct traffic from those articles shouldn't necessarily be your focus or the way you judge whether or not your article marketing efforts are a failure or success.

Some of the commonly talked about ways article marketing can help you include:

1) Direct traffic to your site via article directories where you submit your articles.

2) Writing and submitting articles can generate lots of backlinks to your site from the article directories and other sites that pick up and use your articles.

3) Indirectly, these backlinks may improve your organic search engine rankings, helping your search engine optimization efforts, and drive more traffic to your site via the search engines.

These are all great reasons to write articles.

However, if you are focusing on building an internet business that is successful over the long haul, these aren't the real power behind article marketing. Read more
